全てを通すと見えてくる、聴こえてくるかもしれない未知への道。
音楽と美術、その「あいだ」にある未知なる表現を追い求め続けたAsian Sounds Researchプロジェクト3年間の活動を、
映像、写真、作品にて振り返るアーカイブ展。
旅の始まりと終わりとその続きをゆっくりとお楽しみいただける、そんな特別な時間と空間を感じる「OPEN GATE アーカイブの部屋」。
2014年のマレーシア・ペナン島のリサーチから2017年のカンボジア・バッタンバンのリサーチまで 彷徨い続けた Asian Sounds Researchの道のり、OPEN GATEの成り立ちからその「門」の麓に集った人々、変貌し続ける作品たち、記録されたものたち、繰り返されるパフォーマンス、その土地と人との出会いと別れを走馬灯のように振り返りながら、次の旅へと旅立つまでの3年間の活動の記録を一挙公開。
OPEN GATE 2017会期(9/15-18)終了後に記録を更新し、展示にその様子を反映させる「もう一つの動き続ける展覧会」となります。

〜 The ever-changing archives of Asian Sounds Research

This exhibition is an archive show that looks back to the activities of Asian Sounds Research Project through videos, photographs and artwork. We continued to seek for unknown ways of expressions of music, art and what is in between those two, starting out from our research in Penang Island, Malaysia in 2014, to the research in Batdambang, Cambodia in 2017.
This small exhibition at the corner of a café space will begin from August 6th. From September 6th, we will exhibit the archive of our journey mainly using video footage,
but also other material. After OPEN GATE 2017 comes to an end, we will add the records from it to the exhibition, and it will become “Another ever-changing exhibition.”
It will be a special ‘room’ with space and time where the audience can relax and enjoy the beginning and the end and the continuation of this journey.
We will show our activities of the past three years and the beginning of our next journey all at once, while looking back to the scenes from the path that Asian Sounds Research wandered through: the research that started out from 2014 in Penang Island, Malaysia to the 2017 research in Battambang, Cambodia; the makeup of OPEN GATE and the people who gathered under its GATE(門); the works that constantly changed, the records, the repeated performances; our meetings and partings with each location and the people there.
