Recently, he had started creating installation works for the exhibition, mainly using originally invented electric devices. Participating as main artists of OPEN GATE, he is actively involved in Asian SoundsResearch principal members. Born in Hokkaido in 1978, Mizuuchi is performing as well as exhibiting at home and abroad. He operates an independent label “Mrs. Triangle”, and runs a same name standing bar in his studio. Born in 1982 and now based in George Town, He practice involves investigating the process of cultural translation. He is currently the founder and one of the members of artist collective - Run Amok Gallery based in George Town. Started by Saya and Takashi Ueno in 1996, the band uses unprocessed notes as base sound, interacts with co-performers and the space itself. Still, their music strikes its own presence, and is also the symbolic presence of OPEN GATE. They will perform in the Opening Events on 6th and 7th June as featuring guest musicians. Gabija Grusaite is Lithuanian born author and curator currently based in Penang, Malaysia. She takes on a role of organising three-talk sessions, in addition to follow up OPEN GATE for the entire exhibition period. Born in KL, He lives and works in Petaling Jaya and KL. He is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice demonstrates confident exploration of humour, satire, and visual poetics. He will join in OPEN GATE from the event on 7th, and from then onward he starts creating the special works in the venue every day.

HASA produces works in a variety of media, from paintings and meticulously crafted drawings to painted oven baked clay sculptures. Even though he has given so many numbers of awards, he is extremely elusive as an artist. His participation in OPEN GATE, in response to Hoo Fan Chon’s call, is limited to show his work at the gallery. Jo-Lene is an independent curator based in Kuala Lumpur. She was recently selected to participate in The Japan Foundationʼs “Run & Learn: New Curatorial Constellations” in which she was awarded a grant to curate “Making Space: We Are Where We Arenʼt” in Kuala Lumpur. Participates OPEN GATE as a writer, she also appears on Writer’s Talk event on 14th June. Yuki Higuchi graduated from Ibaraki University in 2011, and has since gained various experiences at various places while evolving around his skills at filmmaking. Although dealing with the projected image as his main means of expression, his interest is not limited to video production. In OPEN GATE, he is going to participate as a video recorder. With a view through a member from the early stage of the research, his video is planned to relay during the exhibition period. |
